Modern hitters have access to enormous amounts of information about pitchers and their tendencies. Yet choosing the right pitch to attack remains difficult. How much does pitch selection influence a hitter's success, and has the growing use of analytics changed how players approach every at-bat?

I think pitch selection has a huge effect on a hitter’s success. Knowing which pitches to look for can make an at-bat much easier, and analytics give players more information than ever. Still, reacting to a fastball or breaking ball in a split second is something statistics can’t completely solve.
