What changes could make international baseball tournaments more competitive and appealing while still working around demanding professional league schedules?

I think better scheduling would make the biggest difference. International tournaments could be planned around major league breaks, giving more players a chance to participate without exhausting them. Shorter tournaments, stronger promotion, and more games between competitive countries could also make international baseball more exciting for fans.
