How Important Is AEW’s Relationship With NJPW?

AEW has had numerous connections with Japanese wrestling, particularly through NJPW. How valuable are these relationships to AEW? Do appearances from Japanese wrestlers and international events add something special, or should AEW focus more heavily on its own regular roster?
