Some of basketball's most valuable players come off the bench rather than starting games. What makes someone effective in the sixth-man role? Is it scoring, energy, versatility, leadership, matchup advantages, or the ability to change the pace of a game when entering?

I think scoring is important for a sixth man, especially when the team needs an immediate boost. Energy and versatility matter just as much, though. A good bench player can change the pace, defend different positions, create shots, and keep the offense moving when starters need a break.
