Why Do WWE Heel Turns Get Such Big Reactions?
A WWE wrestler betraying a teammate or longtime friend can instantly create a major storyline. Why do heel turns continue to work so well? Does the betrayal need months of buildup, or can a completely unexpected turn create an equally strong reaction?

I think betrayals work so well because fans become invested in the relationship between the wrestlers. A long buildup can make the turn more emotional, but a completely unexpected betrayal can create an incredible shock too. The most important thing is making the moment feel meaningful rather than turning someone heel just for the sake of it.

WWE heel turns get such big reactions because they can completely change how fans see a wrestler. When someone trusted suddenly betrays a teammate, friend, or fan-favorite, the shock can make the moment feel personal. A well-built heel turn also gives the wrestler a fresh direction and creates new rivalries.
