A pitcher does not necessarily need the fastest fastball to dominate hitters. Movement, location, deception, pitch selection, and changing speeds can all create problems. Which combination of skills makes a pitcher genuinely difficult to face, and can great control compensate for a lack of elite velocity?

I think location and pitch movement can be just as important as velocity. A pitcher who can change speeds, throw different pitches, and consistently hit the right spots can keep hitters guessing all game. Great control can definitely make up for a lack of elite velocity, especially when the pitcher has good deception.
