Why Did Wrestling Characters Feel Larger Than Life?
Classic wrestling was filled with colorful personalities, unusual gimmicks, villains, heroes, managers, and exaggerated characters. Why did those characters work so well? Did audiences embrace the theatrical side of wrestling more openly during earlier eras, or were performers simply given more freedom to develop memorable personas?
